"Words do two major things. They provide food for the mind and create light for understanding and awareness."
- Source Jim Rohn, author and motivational speaker
Doreen Pendgracs joyfully entered the world of the self-employed in 1993 after a long career in the public sector. Equipped with enthusiasm, a broad-based skill set and an innate ability to work with the written or spoken word, Pendgracs has pleased one satisfied customer after another.
"You're such a wizard with words," said Diane Gumprich, owner of Innovative Pet Ideas, after being dazzled by a magazine piece Pendgracs wrote about her business. The name stuck, and thus was launched Pendgracs's alter ego -- the Wizard of Words.
Pendgracs is president of Pendor Communications, a home-based communications consulting business, but since 1995 when her first magazine story was published, the creativity has flourished, and the Wizard of Words has taken the forefront.
Pendgracss freelance features have appeared in a variety of print and online publications including: Canadian Geographic, Highways, RV Lifestyle, Going Places, DreamScapes, Winnipeg Life, ComFree Homes, Aquascape Landscapes, Hotelier, The Costco Connection, Your Office, My Winnipeg Business, Canadian Insurance, Your Convenience Manager, Your Foodservice Manager, Meetings & Incentive Travel, 55 Plus, German Life, The Cottager, The Manitoba Cooperator, Farmers' Almanac, www.gonomad.com , www.travelwithachallenge.com, www.PROFITguide.com, and over the airwaves on CBC radio.
As well, Pendgracs has co-authored a travel guidebook on Canada's most easterly province: Frommer's Newfoundland & Labrador (released April 2004). She has also done writing/editing projects for various corporate clients including the Canadian Tourism Commission and Wawanesa Mutual, and has conducted writing and copyright workshops for the Manitoba Writer's Guild, the Manitoba Magazine Publishers Association and Grant McEwan College. In addition, Pendgracs's speaking abilities have dazzled audiences on Celebrity Cruiselines and in other forums.
Doreen Pendgracs is co-author of the Manitoba Book of Everything, published fall of 2008 by MacIntyre Purcell Publishing Inc.
