My articles appear in major publications in Canada, the US and the UK. I have written about everything from philosophy in France to elephants in Africa. I grew up in San Francisco, where I became accustomed to beautiful surroundings and market-fresh produce, and acquired a taste for European culture. University years in Berkeley supplied the politics and philosophy.

I have written about Greek politics and culture from Athens, where I lived for a time, and my articles appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, Maclean's Magazine and The Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star. Athens also reinforced my love of Greek music, and for a time I played piano in a band on the Danforth. I have also created and narrated radio documentaries on CBC radio.

In France, I have written about museums, food, philosophy cafes, grand hotels and the memories of the war years, the latter appearing in the Globe and Mail's Focus section.

My writing on health and relationships has appeared in women's magazines in the US (Cosmo, New Woman) and Canada (Chatelaine, Flare, Fashion). For Chatelaine I wrote regularly about complementary medicine; for Flare I had a health column. Before that I covered conferences for various medical publications, including the Journal of the Canadian Medical Association and the American Psychological Association's newspaper, The Monitor.

In my work and in my life, I gravitate towards what is authentic. I certainly know how to appreciate luxury, but I abhor "puff pieces", the kind of fawning writing that insults the reader.

My travel articles have appeared in most major Canadian newspapers and magazines, including the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Vantage Canada, NUVO and Doctor's Review. I have also been published in Conde Nast Traveller, Spa Magazine and SpaFinder. What do I write about?

Travel offers such a broad scope, and my articles have ranged from shopping in Mumbai to archaeology in Cyprus. In France, I have written about cuisine, museums, the philosophy trend (for the Globe and Mail), grand hotels (for the Boston Globe) and a white rhino sanctuary in Northern India.

I have also written on social/historical issues and people. For the Globe and Mail's Focus section I wrote a full page article on how the war years are remembered.

For the international wire service, Agence France Presse, I have covered the Toronto International Film Festival and the Hot Docs Documentary festival.

I have written several screenplays, optioned but not made yet; one is based on the life of the French writer, Colette.
